Why Does ExiTide Use Mangosteen Powder, and Is It Like an Extract?
ExiTide has 100 mg of mangosteen powder in each capsule. It is dried fruit, not a standardised extract, so the 100 mg is the weight of the powder itself. The one pilot trial cited used 400 mg a day of a 40% mangostin extract. That is a different material at four times the amount.
- Mangosteen powder is 100 mg per capsule.
- It is dried fruit rather than a standardised extract.
- No extract ratio or percentage is printed because there is none to print.
- The pilot trial used 400 mg a day of an extract standardised to 40% mangostins.
- That trial ran 26 weeks and had 20 completers.
- No trial of the finished capsule has been published.

What is mangosteen powder on the ExiTide panel?
Mangosteen is a tropical fruit. The panel lists Mangosteen Powder at 100 mg. The word powder matters. It means dried fruit ground fine, not a concentrate made by pulling compounds out of the fruit.
Because it is the fruit itself, the 100 mg is simply the weight of the powder. There is no ratio like 4:1 to convert and no percentage like 90% to apply.
What is the difference between a powder and an extract?
A powder keeps the whole of what was dried, so it holds everything the fruit holds, in lower strength. An extract picks out parts of the plant and concentrates them. A standardised extract goes a step further and guarantees a set share of one named compound.
So 100 mg of powder and 100 mg of a 40% extract are not alike. The second has far more of the named compound by design. This is why a milligram figure alone never tells you how strong a row is.
| Row | Type | What the panel prints |
|---|---|---|
| Mangosteen Powder | Whole dried fruit | 100 mg, no ratio |
| Prickly Pear Extract Powder 4:1 | Ratio extract | 100 mg, 4 parts plant to 1 |
| Cinnamon Bark Extract 10:1 | Ratio extract | 100 mg, 10 parts plant to 1 |
| Turmeric Extract (Std. 95% Curcumin) | Standardised extract | 15 mg, 95% curcumin |

What did the mangosteen trial find?
The trial was a prospective, randomised pilot study in obese female patients, 26 weeks long, with 20 completers. HOMA-IR, a measure of insulin resistance, fell 53.22% in the mangosteen arm and 15.23% with behavioural therapy alone. The paper is Watanabe 2018 on mangosteen extract.
Treat that carefully. It is a small pilot. It studied obese women, while ExiTide is sold to healthy adults of any sex. And the product was an extract, not a powder, at a different amount.
How far is 100 mg of powder from the trial amount?
The trial used 400 mg a day of a fruit-pulp extract titrated to 40% mangostins. The ExiTide row is a quarter of that mass, and it is a powder with no stated mangostin content. So the trial is a research signal about mangosteen extract. It is not a measure of this row.
That is the honest reading. The panel is open, and what it prints is a modest amount of whole fruit.
So why would a maker choose powder?
This site does not know the maker's reasons, and the seller does not publish them. Fair guesses are cost, taste, or a wish to keep the fruit whole. Those are guesses, and they are labelled as such.
What can be said is that powder is simple to read on a label. There is nothing to convert, and nothing hidden behind a ratio.
Is there anything to watch for?
No specific side effect for mangosteen at 100 mg appears in the material this site holds. The capsule as a whole carries the usual cautions: not for anyone under 18 or pregnant or nursing, and a physician first if you take a medication or have a medical condition.
Take one capsule a day with a full glass of water, because the konjac fibre in the same capsule swells. This is a dietary supplement. It is not FDA approved and not a treatment for any condition.
What is not published about the mangosteen row?
The fruit part, the origin, the mangostin content, the supplier and a lab report are not published. The lot code EXI-26/GE-7602 is a label marking, not a test result.

Frequently asked questions
How much mangosteen is in ExiTide?
Each capsule has 100 mg of mangosteen powder, which is dried fruit and not a standardised extract.
Is mangosteen powder the same as mangosteen extract?
No. A powder keeps the whole dried fruit. An extract concentrates parts of it, and a standardised extract guarantees a share of one compound.
What did the mangosteen trial use?
It used 400 mg a day of a fruit-pulp extract titrated to 40% mangostins, for 26 weeks, with 20 completers.
Does ExiTide contain mangostins?
The panel does not print a mangostin figure, so the amount is not published.
Does mangosteen in ExiTide help insulin resistance?
No claim is made. The pilot trial studied a different product at a larger amount, and ExiTide is not a treatment for any condition.
Is ExiTide safe with medicines?
The label asks anyone on medication to consult a physician before use. Berberine in the same capsule is the row most often raised with prescribers.
Our view
The mangosteen row is the plainest on the panel, and the least studied in this form. The trial we can cite used a different material at four times the amount. So the research and the row do not meet.
We would call it a gentle addition rather than a reason to buy. If you like a label that prints weights without tricks, you will like it. If you wanted trial-sized amounts, this capsule does not offer them.
